vessel

We love giving hope a vessel.
Children full of joy watch as their friend blows out candles and keeps wishes to themself.
Teenagers surrounded by empty bottles and cigarette packs,
Sitting in the dark, look up at the sky and whisper to themselves as a star shoots by.
A group of adults are having dinner when one pulls a wishbone from their meal
And they laugh as they remember when they were younger, pulling it apart and believing a little.
The love is there, surrounding them, in the form of doubled numbers, dandelions, fallen eyelashes and full moons.
The love is there, surrounding us, and has been here before and will be here again.
The love is there, surrounding itself, seeing itself die and reinventing itself endlessly.
